Senior technical counsel — for the decision that’s too big to get wrong.
Architecture reviews, engineering-org diagnosis, AI-adoption strategy, and board-level technical judgment — brought in for a specific question, not embedded in your org.
What I advise on
- Architecture & technical strategy. A senior read on the direction, the risks, and the calls in front of you.
- Engineering-org diagnosis. Why delivery is slow, where the key-person risk sits, and what to change.
- AI adoption, done well. How to make AI tooling a real advantage — without accumulating a codebase no one can maintain.
- Build-vs-buy and major technical decisions. An independent perspective when the stakes and the price tag are high.
- Board & investor counsel. Technical judgment your directors can act on, in plain terms.
How it works
Project-based or periodic — a single decision, a focused review, or a standing advisory seat. Scoped tightly to the question: no embedding, no retainer you don’t need. If what you need is someone accountable in the room week to week, that’s a fractional CTO engagement instead.
Who I am
Nearly thirty years in engineering leadership — CTO, VP Engineering, and principal-level roles across Amazon, Woot.com, and Twitch. Most recently Principal, M&A Technology and Engineering Integration at Amazon, leading five AI-capability acquisitions for AWS. Decades in, I still build production software myself — Get Camino went from empty repo to shipped product in under a week, solo, with AI tooling. Computer Engineering, USC. Based in southern Spain; work is remote, with onsite as the engagement warrants. Engagements are conducted in English.
