Even if you are nearly done with your first product, having a product roadmap in place as a living document that is updated at least once every 30 days that shows your feature planning on a version by version basis allows the developers and prospective customers (and investors) a very good insight into the direction your company's flagship product is headed.

Armed with a product roadmap, it's time to assign the resources - developers, bug tracking software, designers, quality assurance policies - and put in place the development timelines and costs to get the product built. This should be done first, before hiring your very first developer.

How your company is going to make money from this product needs to be planned carefully with a pro-forma income statement showing unit costs, revenue projections (that are well founded and well researched), operational expenses, and make sure you are driving towards an eventual profit and managing your costs effectively.
